Our mentors are the lifeblood of our program, it is their support and influence that continue to grow each team that comes through our door. We are fortunate enough to have a strong network of professionals that are passionate about the opportunities that come with mentorship. As we ramp up the class of 2015, we took a moment to catch up with mentor Jeff Reich.
Jeff has been with Health Wildcatters since the beginning, serving as a highly active and engaged mentor with the first class. He then went on to pursue some other projects but before he left he said, “I’ll be back,” and we couldn’t be happier to have him return to the community! Jeff is currently serving as the Chief Security Officer at Barricade Security Systems in New Braunfels, TX. He has over 30 years’ experience developing, managing, and implementing comprehensive security and risk management infrastructures.
Why Health Wildcatters?
I like that the Health Wildcatters selection process has high standards. I know I’m going to work with good companies and get a peek into what is coming next. Mentoring allows me to share my knowledge and interact with healthcare innovators and benefits me too.
What do you look for when you come here?
Two things, I want to help ensure that the security perspective is considered while they are building healthcare products and services are developed, rather than addressing it later.. You can have compliance without security but good security needs compliance. I also love the fact that I have the opportunity to be exposed to new startups with great new ideas.
You have your own startup. Is this your first?
Technically it’s my second, I joined a company that had just merged and met one of my partners there. We both left the company because we saw a gap that had to be filled and turned it into our current venture. We got seed funding last fall and we’re looking to see what we’re going to be doing next!
A huge thank you to Jeff Reich and all of our Health Wildcatters mentors! Our program wouldn’t be the same without you!1
