James Wang is an investor and advisor supporting founders building transformative companies in technology, energy, and healthcare. As founder of Mimosa Ventures, he partners with early-stage startups, offering strategic guidance informed by his operational and financial expertise.

Previously, as VP of Finance at Preciate, James led financial operations and steered the company through a successful Series A funding round. Earlier in his career, he was instrumental in scaling Alerian, a leading energy infrastructure data and analytics firm. As the company's fourth employee and Director of Data Science, he helped architect its flagship indices and analytics platforms, contributing to its growth from inception to over $20 billion in assets under management. His work there combined technical rigor with a focus on scalable infrastructure - a philosophy he continues to apply in venture investing.

James began his career in equity research at Raymond James, where he developed his foundation in financial modeling and sector analysis. A Johns Hopkins University graduate with a degree in Biomedical Engineering, he brings a unique blend of technical precision and business acumen to his investments.

Active in the entrepreneurial community, James mentors with the DEC Network, UT Dallas, and Johns Hopkins. Furthermore, he serves as a member of the North Texas Angel Network.
